The Chainsmokers are back with a brand new single titled “Paris.” No surprise, we can’t stop playing it on repeat!
After owning the charts with “Closer” and performing the song at the 2016 AMAs with Halsey and Travis Barker, The Chainsmokers’ new track is less EDM-oriented than their previous hit single. The song also doesn’t include a featured vocalist, making it their first track to do so since 2015.
“We are really excited about this song because it feels like a really big step in our production and song writing,” Alex Pall from the band said in a press release. “We tried to switch it up a bit and the song feels a lot more rhythmic and we pulled a lot of inspiration from bands we grew up loving.”
According to the EDM duo, Paris doesn’t necessarily represent the city in the song, but more of a feeling. The following definition of Paris is shown on-screen at the beginning of the song’s lyric video:
Paris: A sentimental yearning for a reality that isn’t genuine. 2: An irrecoverable condition for fantasy that evokes nostalgia or day dreams.
So, it makes sense that the lyric video wasn’t shot in Paris, but in Tulum, Mexico. It features model and wildly popular Instagram star Alexis Ren, who has over 7.7 million followers.
In case you forgot, The Chainsmokers won their first American Music Award in 2016 for Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music. They also performed on the AMAs stage for the first time.
