First-Time AMAs Nominees, By The Numbers

Give a warm, Adele “helloooo” to all of the fresh faces making music pop: the first-time AMAs nominees, that is! Yesterday’s AMAs nominations announcement saw many new acts receive their very first nominations for music’s biggest fan-voted awards. This year’s first-timers have been slaying the charts and your hearts over the past year. Here are some amazing stats that show why they could be walking home with an AMAs trophy on November 20.


The Chainsmokers 

The EDM duo nabbed four nominations including New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year for “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya, Favorite Duo or Group–Pop/Rock and Favorite Artist–EDM.

Twenty One Pilots

Nothing to be stressed out about here. Twenty One Pilots has 3 AMAs nominations including Artist of the Year, Favorite Duo or Group–Pop/Rock and Favorite Artist–Alternative Rock.

Bryson Tiller

Louisville singer, songwriter and rapper Bryson Tiller is making his debut at the AMAs with 3 nominations: Favorite Male Artist–Soul/R&B, Favorite Album–Soul/R&B for TRAPSOUL, Favorite Song–Soul/R&B for “Don’t.”


Desiigner could be walking home with AMA wins for Video of the Year (“Panda”) and Favorite Song– Rap/Hip-Hop (“Panda”).


It’s going to be cake and champagne by the ocean if DNCE walks home with a trophy for either of their two nominations: New Artist of the Year, Favorite Duo or Group–Pop/Rock.


Starting 2016 with a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 (Evol), it’s no surprise that Future is nominated for Favorite Artist–Rap/Hip-Hop and Favorite Album–Rap/Hip-Hop for his collaboration with Drake, What A Time To Be Alive.

Thomas Rhett

One of country’s fast-rising heartthrobs, Thomas Rhett is nominated for Favorite Male Artist–Country and Favorite Song–Country for “Die A Happy Man”.

J Balvin

J Balvin received a nomination for Favorite Artist–Latin.


Cam is nominated for Favorite Female Artist–Country.

Alessia Cara

She’s here with us now. Alessia Cara is up for New Artist of the Year.

Lauren Daigle

Lauren Daigle will compete against Hillsong UNITED and Chris Tomlin for Favorite Artist–Contemporary Inspirational.

Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony might be flexing their way across the stage if they win Collaboration of the Year for “Work From Home” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

Nicky Jam

Nicky Jam landed a nomination for Favorite Artist–Latin.

Major Lazer

Major Lazer earned a nomination for Favorite Artist–EDM.

Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes’ quick rise up the charts landed him a New Artist of the Year nomination.

Old Dominion

Old Dominion earned a nomination for Favorite Duo or Group–Country.

Chris Stapleton

Chris Stapleton is nominated for Favorite Album–Country for his debut album, Traveller.

Rachel Platten

Rachel Platten fought her way to a nomination for Favorite Artist–Adult Contemporary.

X Ambassadors

This Ithaca, NY band is up for their first AMAs with a nomination for Favorite Artist–Alternative Rock.
