Drake Leads With 13 AMAs Nominations

The 2016 American Music Award nominations ARE OUT! How did your favorite artists do?

Drake is the leader this year with 13 nominations — more than any other artist has ever received in a single year in AMAs history.

The previous record-holder was Michael Jackson, who received 11 nominations in 1984.

Drake’s 13 nominations is also double the amount of nominations that last year’s nominations leader Taylor Swift received.

Next up on our list of top nominees is someone who work, worked her way to seven AMAs nominations: Rihanna. The Navy will have plenty of categories to vote in, including the coveted Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year and Video of the Year awards.

2016 was also a huge year for five-time nominees Adele and Justin Bieber. The two will compete against each other for Artist of the Year as Bieber seeks his third win in this category, Adele her first. It will also be a 25 versus Purpose battle for Favorite Album–Pop/Rock (also including Drake’s Views) and “Hello” versus “Love Yourself ” for Favorite Song–Pop/Rock (also including Drake’s “One Dance”).

Last up on our list of nominations leaders is none other than 23-time AMAs winner, Beyoncé. Queen Bey sent the world into a craze with her long-form visual album, Lemonade, and bagged four AMAs nominations, including Artist of the Year and Tour of the Year.

While these stars are no strangers to the AMAs, we also have almost 20 first-time nominees, including The Chainsmokers, Twenty One Pilots, Future, Chris Stapleton, Shawn Mendes and Alessia Cara.
