TOP 10 AMA WINNERS OF ALL TIME (1974–2014)

2015 NOMINATION FAST FACTS:

  • Taylor Swift is a 16-time American Music Award winner. She has won Artist of the Year 3 times and was awarded the first ever Dick Clark Award for Excellence in 2014. Swift earned 6 nominations for this year’s show and will surpass Whitney Houston (21 wins) as the female artist with the most AMA wins, if she sweeps in 2015 (22 wins).
  • Aretha Franklin, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey and Rihanna are the current record holders for most wins in the Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B category with 4 wins each.  Should Beyoncé or Rihanna win this year, they would become the new record holder in this category with 5 wins.
  • Enrique Iglesias dominates the Favorite Artist – Latin category with 6 wins, the most of any Latin artist. This will be his 7th win in the category, should he take the award home again this year.
  • Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd are first-time American Music Award nominees and are tied with 5 nominations each, the second-highest number of nominations for this year’s show.
  • 2014 New Artist of the Year Presented by Kohl’s nominee, Meghan Trainor, is now nominated for the coveted Artist of the Year Award for this year’s show, up against heavyweights Luke Bryan, Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd.
  • Four-time American Music Award winner and eight-time nominee Nicki Minaj will tie with MC Hammer for most wins (3) in the Favorite Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop category, if she takes home the award this year.

  • Miranda Lambert has been nominated 6 times over the past 6 consecutive years for Favorite Female Artist – Country. Zac Brown Band has been nominated 5 times for Favorite Duo or Group – Country. Lambert and Zac Brown Band will be first-time American Music Award winners should they take home the award this year.
  • Calvin Harris has been nominated 4 times over the past 4 consecutive years for Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music and won the award in 2014. Should Harris win this year, he would become the new record holder in this category with 2 wins.
  • “2015 American Music Awards” host and performer Jennifer Lopez is a three-time American Music Award winner and seven-time nominee. Lopez has been nominated for Favorite Artist – Latin 3 times (2000, 2007, 2011) and won in 2007 and 2011. She received 2 nominations for Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock (2002, 2003) and won in 2003.
